If you’re dreaming about stepping into a dark & moody, magazine-worthy boudoir session, a little preparation goes a long way. At Christie Conyer Studio, I believe your boudoir experience should feel as luxurious and empowering as the images themselves. Here’s how to get ready for your session so you feel confident, relaxed, and absolutely stunning.

1. Shift Your Mindset — You Deserve This
One of the biggest secrets to a breathtaking boudoir session is your mindset. This is a gift to yourself, an experience to celebrate who you are right now. Instead of worrying about “flaws,” focus on how you want to feel.
Visualize stepping into my dark & moody studio in Oklahoma, wrapped in gorgeous light, styling, and posing that flatters you perfectly. This is about letting go of perfection and stepping into your power.
2. Rest & Hydrate for Your Glow
Give yourself plenty of rest the night before your boudoir session. A good night’s sleep will help you look fresh and radiant on camera.
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your shoot to keep your skin plump and glowing.
If you enjoy a glass of wine the night before, keep it light, hydration is your secret weapon for that soft, luminous look.
3. Plan Some Luxurious Self-Care
Pamper yourself before your session; it makes all the difference!
- Get your nails done in a color you love.
- Moisturize your skin daily in the week leading up to your shoot.
- Book hair and makeup with a trusted artist (I’m always happy to recommend my favorite Oklahoma beauty pros!).
- Avoid self-tanner unless you’re confident in the results; sometimes it doesn’t photograph as naturally as we’d like.

4. Choose Outfits That Make You Feel Amazing
When it comes to what to wear, think editorial meets intimate. For my signature dark & moody boudoir style, dramatic pieces like lace robes, bodysuits, silk slips, or oversized sweaters photograph beautifully.
Bring a mix of looks: something romantic, something bold, and something that feels totally you. I always recommend my clients bring at least 3–5 outfit options so we can play with different vibes.
5. Don’t Forget the Details
- Eat a light meal before your session; no one feels confident on an empty stomach.
- Bring any accessories you’d like: jewelry, heels, or a sentimental piece.
- Pack a robe or cover-up for breaks between looks.
- If you’re feeling nervous, a playlist of your favorite songs can help you relax and step into your confidence.
6. Trust the Process & Celebrate You
Preparing for your boudoir session isn’t about losing 10 pounds or changing who you are. It’s about stepping into a luxury experience that’s all about you.
At Christie Conyer Studio, my mission is to create a dark & moody, editorial vibe that feels empowering, safe, and unforgettable. Trust that you’re in good hands; I’ll guide you every step of the way.
