Her Story begins
When Ms. J reached out to me for her maternity session, she had one clear vision in mind: she wanted something more than the typical soft, pastel maternity portraits. She wanted drama, elegance, and a touch of high fashion…an editorial story that felt like it belonged in the pages of Vogue.

The Concept
Together, we designed a session that told a story of confidence, transformation, and the beauty of motherhood in all its forms. Rather than sticking to one look, we curated multiple styles, each one highlighting a different facet of her personality. From sleek black gowns with sculptural silhouettes to soft, draped fabrics that captured movement and light, every look was intentional.
I wanted her images to feel timeless, but also bold, something she could look back on years from now and say, “That was me, in my element.”

The Looks
We styled three distinct editorial moods:
- The Classic Black Dress – Minimalist, powerful, and chic. We played with a pastel blue background (a subtle clue to the boy she was having), and clean lines to emphasize her silhouette.
- Soft & Ethereal Draping – Layers of flowing fabric created a sense of motion, femininity, and lightness, a nod to the classic maternity softness but elevated with fashion-forward styling.
- High-Fashion Edge – A tailored blazer, statement jewelry, and bold poses brought a modern twist, proving maternity doesn’t have to be confined to one look.
Hair and makeup was provided by the ultra talented Ashley Tolman Beauty. We created different hair looks to highlight the style and vibe of each outfit.
Each transition felt like stepping into a new chapter of her story, from confident woman, to glowing mother, to muse.

The Experience
Editorial sessions are more than just photography, they’re an experience of transformation. With music playing, multiple wardrobe changes, and time to experiment, Ms. J said she felt like a model for the day. Her words at the end of the session summed it up perfectly:
“I came in expecting maternity photos, but I left feeling like I had been part of a fashion shoot. I’ve never felt more beautiful or more powerful.”

The Result
The final gallery was a collection of images that blurred the line between fashion and portraiture. They weren’t just maternity photos, they were art. Portraits that celebrated her journey into motherhood with editorial style, timeless beauty, and unapologetic confidence.
